Jess
Bond was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, educated in New Aberdeen Public School and Glace Bay High School. After her husbands death in 1961, she attended Teachers College in Fredericton. She taught in Fredericton for several years, attending U.N.B. to earn her B.A. She retired from teaching in 1987, the final several years spent in Scarborough. After retirement, she settled down in a hundred-year-old farmhouse and began her writing career. She has written five collections of Cape Breton
stories and one novel, MAGGIE.
